Before we get to upcoming events, a few announcements from JTF/JCD. (1) Do you have a donated cherry tree on Buchanan Mall/Osaka Way? Due to the upcoming Osaka Way Upgrades Project to restore the Ruth Asawa fountains and resurface the pedestrian mall to comply with ADA requirements, these trees will have to be moved. If you do have a donated cherry tree, please complete this 2-minute survey. (2) The Peace Plaza Renovation is in full swing and the iconic Peace Pagoda will soon be surrounded by scaffolding. Updated information on the renovation can be found at peaceplaza.org. (3) Many thanks to those who have already completed the Japantown Housing Survey. We have received over 170 responses and are seeking about 30 more. If you haven’t already done so, please complete this 5-minute survey to help us plan for future housing in the neighborhood!

（1）ブキャナンモール/大阪ウェイに寄贈された桜の木をお持ちの方へ。大阪ウェイ改修プロジェクトに伴い、ルース・アサワの噴水を修復し、歩行者用モールのADA法を満たすために舗装を貼り直す工事を行います。このため、寄贈された桜の木は移動しなければなりません。もし桜の木を寄贈している場合は、2分程度で完了するアンケートにご協力ください。

（2）ピース・プラザの改修工事に伴い、日本町の象徴であるピース・パゴダはまもなく足場で囲まれる予定です。改修に関する最新情報は、peaceplaza.org にてご確認ください。

（3）日本町住宅調査にご協力いただいた皆様、ありがとうございました。これまでに170件以上の回答をいただいており、あと30件ほど追加でお待ちしています。まだお済でない方は、今後の地域の住宅計画の参考となるため、5分ほどで終わるアンケートにご協力をお願いします。

ミュア・ウッズで仲良しハイクを開催します！

ミュア・ウッズ国立記念公園ビジターセンターへ向かう景色の美しいハイキングに参加しませんか？ミュア・ウッズ国立公園で、3.5マイルのループトレイル「Canopy View Trail」を歩きます。このトレイルは、日陰が多く、自然の美しさを楽しむのにぴったりな、簡単から中程度のチャレンジです。ハイキングの所要時間は約2〜2.5時間です。

ハイキングの後は、ミル・バレーの「ソル・フード」でランチを楽しみましょう。リラックスし、エネルギーを補給しながら、たくさんの人と交流できる素晴らしい機会です！

The Nichi Bei Foundation proudly announces the 6th Nikkei Angel Island Pilgrimage on Sat, 10/5, with buses departing from Sacramento and San Jose Japantown, and ferry packages from SF Ferry Building and Tiburon-Angel Island Ferry, as well as optional bentos.

The event will feature David Mineta, son of former Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta, speaking about his grandmother Kane Mineta's journey through Angel Island. Grant Din, co-curator of the exhibit "Taken From Their Families: Japanese Americans Incarceration on Angel Island During World War II," will speak about those of Japanese descent detained at the Immigration Station during World War II. Linda Harms Okazaki, Past President of the California Genealogical Society, will also speak, and genealogy volunteers will help participants research their family histories. We will also have a taiko performance by Roy and PJ Hirabayashi and friends, and Bon Odori dancing. Further details and tickets available here.

Our company broadcasts Japanese dramas, variety shows, and local news to Japanese audiences and American viewers across Southern California via terrestrial and cable channels. We are proud to announce the free nationwide streaming of a documentary film trilogy in honor of the 100th anniversary of the late Senator Daniel K. starting on September 7, which is Senator Inouye's birthday. All three films are directed by Junichi Suzuki and focus on different aspects of Japanese American history, including internment camps, Japanese American military units, and the U.S. Army’s Military Intelligence Service (MIS) language specialists, offering a multi-dimensional portrayal of Japanese Americans during the war. The late Senator Daniel K. Inouye appears in all three films, sharing his valuable experiences and deep insights. From the Save Tenichi Group: In the heart of San Francisco, in the vibrant the Fillmore district, lies a hidden gem—a family-owned Japanese restaurant named Ten-Ichi. Founded by Sachiko and Yoichi Amano on Valentine’s Day in 1978, Ten-Ichi began as a modest dream of two young immigrants with two young children trying to get somewhere in the world. After 46 years, it has become a beloved cornerstone of the community, passed down to their children, Steve and Saori who uphold the legacy with the same love and commitment.
