This Letter to the Editor appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle on May 15, 2024. S.F. is the place to beI was in San Francisco recently and am so happy to see its comeback. Over a few days, I went to the new Mission Rock Park, Asian Art Museum, Exploratorium, North Beach, Chinatown and Japantown. The Chinatown Night Market was fantastic. Blocks of food, shopping, music and lion dancers. And so many people with energy and enthusiasm. Japantown was the biggest surprise. It is chock-full of activity and people. Everyone is having fun, shopping and eating great food. San Francisco is an energetic, interesting, beautiful city — it’s back and ready for us all to enjoy. From our friends at the SF Tech Council: Start Your Business @50+: We are recruiting participants for the next cohort of our Kickstart Your Business @50+ program which begins on August 19, 2024. This free, 10-week, online program is open to SF residents who are 50 years of age or older and who are interested in starting a business. To date, four cohorts have completed this one-of-a-kind entrepreneurship program which is funded by the Office of Economic and Workforce Development and conducted by Blissen, a San Francisco startup, and SF Tech Council. FYI, here is a quick overview of participants in the earlier cohorts: Some of their business ideas include: tutoring services, carpet cleaning, home care, tech consulting, financial advising, yoga/wellness classes, and personal or life coaching.
