Tonight at midnight is the deadline for the Soy-Ful Youth Art Contest! Tell your young friends! Tomorrow, the Fillmore Task Force is hosting a Community Town Hall. Don’t forget to register for a special performance in memory of Mark Izu. Support low-income students aspiring to become the first college graduates in their families at the JCYC Excellence in Education event. Be sure to complete the District 5 Street Safety Survey by May 30! NEW: Kearny Street Workshop is seeking APA artists for the 2025 APATURE showcase. Read on for deadlines and details for all of these activities.

A message from Jon Osaki, Executive Director of JCYC: The Japanese Community Youth Council serves about 3,000 low-income first generation college students each yaer. Unfortunately, we are facing unprecedented challenges at this time. We recently learned that our college access programs are one of many federal initiatives that have been targeted for elimination. We have had to fight and have prevailed when targeted in the past, but local support will go a long way towards ensuring we can help as many first-generation college students as possible achieve a college degree. Come out and/or donate to preserve these essential programs!

NOW THROUGH May 30, 2025 - District 5 Street Safety Investment Priorities Survey by Supervisor Bilal Mahmood

Help us decide where to spend District 5's Neighborhood Transportation Program funds! The San Francisco County Transportation Authority allocates $700,000 to each Supervisor district offices to support small projects that can make a big difference in reducing speeding, increasing visibility of pedestrians, and making for safer intersections. Examples are painted safety zones, speed humps/cushions, and raised crosswalks. The deadline for this survey is May 30, 2025. Complete survey here.

A message from Kearny Street Workshop: APAture is an annual, month-long multidisciplinary arts festival that showcases 50-60 emerging APA artists to an audience of nearly 1,000 in venues throughout San Francisco. From October 18-November 8, we’ll be presenting 4 showcases and an art fair in venues across the city! The event draws diverse attendees from across the Bay Area, offering critical platforms for APA art that uplifts APA communities and, in today’s political environment, contributes necessary voices to arts & culture. The theme for this year is (UN)BECOMING. Being human is to be part of a great transformational journey. By shedding outdated identities and practices that no longer serve us, we create space for personal and collective growth, allowing new ideas to emerge. 今年は10月18日から11月8日まで、市内のさまざまな会場で4つのショーケースとアートフェアを開催します！このイベントにはベイエリア全体から多様な観客が集まり、APAコミュニティを高める芸術のための重要なプラットフォームを提供します。また、今日の政治的状況において、芸術文化に必要な声を届ける役割も果たしています。
