2023: Lunar New Year to mark the Year of the Rabbit

After 6 weeks of intercultural music and dance rehearsals, the We Are One intercultural, interracial, and interfaith group, based in Japantown, energetically marched in the 2023 San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade, despite inclement weather, on 2/4. The parade judges awarded the We Are One contingent a 9 out of 10 score! Congratulations!

2023年卯年、チャイニーズニューイヤーパレード

６週間におよぶリハーサルの後、2月4日に実際のパレードが行われました。本番の天候は良くありませんでしたが、We Are Oneのパレードは10点中9点の高得点を獲得しました。おめでとう！

2/2 Town Hall on Public Safety

The Nihonmachi Community Council and Supervisor Dean Preston hosted a Town Hall on Public Safety at the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California on 2/2, featuring Northern Station Police Captain Derrick Jackson and representatives of the Mayor’s Office, the Office of Small Business, and SF Safe. A key message to the Japantown community was the importance of reporting crimes to the authorities. The Japantown Community Benefit District has put together this helpful flier.

2月2日日本町コミュニティカウンセルとスーパーバイザーのディーンプレストンにより、北加日本文化コミュニティセンター（JCCCNC)にて公共安全における会合がありました。警察北側区域のキャップテン、デレック・ジャクソン、市長オフィス、スモールビジネスやSFセーフからの代表が参加して、安全について協議されました。

2/28: Community Briefing on Peace Plaza Cultural Elements

Hosted by the Japantown Task Force Peace Plaza Committee, the Peace Plaza Renovation Project design team will review key cultural elements, including the Eternal Flame, Water Element, Heiwa Calligraphy, History Walk Panels, Boulders, the Peace Pagoda, and interpretive signage. RSVP here. 

2月28日ピースプラザの文化的要素におけるコミュニティ説明会がJTFのピースプラザ委員会主催にて行われます。永遠の炎、水、平和の能筆、歴史散策のパネル、岩、ピースパゴダ、解釈標識などが主な文化的要素に含まれ、ピースプラザ修復プロジェクトのデザインチームが見直しを行います。ご参加は上記RSVPからどうぞ。

KOHO: Japan-Japantown “Bridging Cultures” Community Pop-Up

KOHO, a project of the Japantown Task Force, presents an event to showcase the Japanese city of Izumisano, a suburb of Osaka and near the Kansai International Airport, 11 am - 5 pm, Sat, 2/11 - Sun, 2/12 @ Kinokuniya Building in the Japan Center Mall, 2nd Floor. The event will feature children’s crafts and be staffed by volunteers by the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts High School Japan Club. Join us!

JTFのプロジェクトのひとつであるKOHO は、日本と日本町”文化の架け橋”コミュニティーポップアップストアとして、関西空港の近隣の都市である泉佐野市のショーケースを紀伊國屋ビル２階にて２月11日と12日の２日間、午前11時から午後5時までオープンします。ルース・アサワ美術スクール日本クラブのボランティアによる子供向けのクラフトなどもありますのでどうぞご参加ください。
