Issei History Symposium – August 21 @ JCCCNC
Scholars from the University of Pennsylvania, Stanford, Seijo University, UC Berkeley, and more will share new research on the pre–World War II Issei experience, using rare materials from the Center’s Japanese American History Archives. Japantenna invites photographers of all levels to join our Social Media Photo Contest celebrating our Cameras & Photography Pop-Up in historic San Francisco Japantown.

A powerful new exhibit at the San Francisco Historical Society documents the destruction of the Fillmore District during “urban renewal,” featuring 24 historic photos—including a special section on Japantown’s Japanese American community.
