Message from NihonmachI Street Fair: With support from the Hawaii Chamber of Commerce of Northern California and  @hiclifestyle, Nihonmachi Street Fair is presenting Aloha by the Bay: Voices of Maui benefit concert on Saturday, October 21st from noon to 6pm at the Peace Plaza in Japantown. This a great opportunity for Japantown and our City to show our aloha to our brothers and sisters of Maui who were devastated during the wildfires this past August. You’ll have an opportunity to donate towards the Maui Strong Fund of Hawaiʻi Community Foundation at the event. Let’s come together to support the people of Maui 🌺

Message from Kimochi, Inc.: On Sat, 10/21, Kimochi will be celebrating 50th anniversary at the Pa'Ina Restaurant & Bar here in Japantown from 2-5 pm. Event honorees will be Kimochi Co-Founders Sandy Mori and Steve Nakajo. This social event will feature appetizers, sake, wine and beer tastings, silent auction, and music. Just announced! Please join us during APEC Week in San Francisco, 11/12 - 11/18 when heads of state and senior officials of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum will gather in San Francisco. An estimated 30,000 people, including 100 members of the media from all over the world are expected to visit our City that week.

As part of the week’s work towards global economic peace, the Japantown Cultural District, the Japan Society of Northern California, and the United Nations Association of San Francisco are presenting a very special screening of “Paper Lanterns,” a moving documentary about atomic bomb survivor Shigeaki Mori’s quest to locate the families of the 12 American prisoners of war who perished in the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Join us on Mon, 11/13, 5 - 7:30 pm, at the historic Herbst Theater where the United Nations Charter was signed. Suggested donation: $15. Students, seniors, veterans are free. 11月12日ー11月18日にサンフランシスコで開催されるAPEC　WeekにAPECの代表の方々 が集まります。凡そ30,000人（記者の方々約１００人も含め)がサンフランシスコにいらっしゃる見込みです。世界的経済平に向けての取り組みとしてJapantown Cultural District, the Japan Society of Northern California, and the United Nations Association of San Francisco は“Paper Lanterns,”という広島原生還者Shigeaki Moriが原爆でいなくなった１２人のアメリカ人捕虜の家族を捜索する物語を記録したドキュメンタリーを放映します。11月13日（月曜日）午後17:30〜19:30、国際連合憲章が署名された歴史あるハープスト劇場にて。１５ドルの寄付を目安とします。学生、シニア、ベテラン/退役軍人は無料です。チケットの数は限られておりますので事前予約を！予約はこちらから。このイベントを支援したいと思う方はこちらから寄付できます。
