Creating synergy between established and emerging artists and culture bearers of multiple generations, KOHO’s Co-Creative Arts and Culture Hub will provide opportunities for authentic and culturally relevant creative story-telling, generational conversations, and artistic narratives honoring Japantown’s 117-year-old history and the transformative voices of the ever-evolving multi-ethnic, intergenerational community of today.

The Co-Creative Hub was first envisioned and identified by the community over 10 years ago as an essential strategy to preserve Japantown, in the City’s overall placemaking strategy reports  JCHHESS (2013) and the CCHESS (2023).  KOHO is excited to make this happen for our community. The Arts Impact Endowment, which typically receives between $1 and $3 million per year, is supported by the annual hotel tax revenues dedicated to supporting arts and culture in our City.  By mandate, the San Francisco Arts Commission must develop an allocation plan to guide the distribution of these funds every five years, with community input. Complete a community survey by March 11 or attend one of the Open Houses in the coming weeks. Find more info here.
