Peace Plaza Renovation Construction Update

August 2024

Please be advised – Starting this week, the entrance to Japan Center East from Post Street will be adjusted to direct pedestrians through a protected path, more toward the middle of the block/plaza, just west on Post Street. This detour will allow for demolition of the existing path to the East Mall entrance.

ご注意ください – 今週から、ポスト ストリートからジャパン センター イーストへの入り口は、ポスト ストリートのすぐ西側、ブロック/広場の中央に向かって保護された通路を通って歩行者を誘導するように調整されます。

Remember! Japan Center Malls remain open throughout the construction duration. Please be aware of the following pedestrian detours:

• Access from Geary Boulevard – Detour to both East Mall and West Mall through the Geary Boulevard parking garage

• Access from Post Street – Enter through existing fenced paths near the buildings to East Mall and West Mall

• SIDEWALK CLOSED on the north side of Geary Boulevard from Laguna Street to Buchanan Street (mid-block crosswalk).

・ギアリー通り側からアクセスする場合、イーストモールとウエストモールへは駐車場を通っ　て迂回してください。

・ポスト通り側からアクセスする場合、建物近くの既存のフェンスで囲まれた通路を通って、　イーストモールとウエストモールへ入ってください。

・ラグナ通りからブキャナン通り (中間横断歩道) まで、ギアリー通り北側の歩道は通行止めとなります。

An important message from Katelyn Lai, a senior at Cupertino High School:

Termination of high school Japanese classes in Cupertino High School
 
The Fremont Union High School District is in the process of phasing out a language at each of its schools, and Japanese was chosen at Cupertino High School. This decision deprives incoming students of the opportunity to have the same education we currently take for granted.

We, the students of the Japanese language program, believe that these decisions should be reversed; this program has been pivotal in our high school lives, and taking away this opportunity for future students would mean neglecting the interests of the students, current and incoming. 

This upcoming 2024 school year, Japanese Level 1 was not offered as a course option; as unfortunate as that was, we still have countless students signing up for Level 2, willing to skip an important level simply to have the opportunity to continue to learn the language. If you are interested in exploring the different experiences of students who are in the class right now, please visit this document here: linked here. We students truly care for this program, and we would all hate to see our memories and experiences disappear simply because FUHSD made their own decisions.

We are incredibly passionate about this language program and hope you can help us bring back the class through combined efforts.

高いレベルにあるCupertino高校(Fremont Union High School District) の日本語授業が
打ち切られる計画が郡側より出されております。
現在この授業を継続する様に嘆願(Petition)活動が受講する生徒を中心に行われており、総領事館、Japan Society, Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Northern California 等と共にこれを支援行う事となりました。もしこれにご賛同、sign頂ければ有難くご案内申し上げます。
