The San Francisco Department of Public Works has announced a request for bids on the $5.3M Osaka Way Upgrades Project. Bids are due by 2:30 pm on Wed, Jan 28, 2026. A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for 10 am on Thurs, Jan 15 via Microsoft Teams. Here is a link to the announcement.

Join the Team: Volunteer for the “I Am An American” Exhibit!
Help launch this historic national exhibit! By volunteering, you will have an opportunity to greets hundreds of conference goers, traveling from near and far, to participate in the opening celebration for the 11-city tour of the Nisei Soldier Experience. All volunteering will take place at Hotel Kabuki, 1625 Post Street in San Francisco Japantown.
Volunteer Schedule:

• Thurs, 2/19: Prep conference materials (afternoon)

• Fri, 2/20, Sat, 2/21 and Sun, 2/22: Registration desk (morning/afternoon shifts, Sunday is morning only)

Presented by East Wind Books of Berkeley, join photojournalist and author Mary Uyematsu Kao in a discussion of her latest book. The work chronicles the beginnings of youth-inspired, multi-generational Japanese American community activism in Los Angeles. The book talk will be followed by a community panel featuring Shoshana Arai, Keith Kojimoto, and Kiana Hume (a former Nikkei Community Intern for JTF!). Register here.

Flashbacks of the 1970s Asian Movement』
フォトジャーナリストであり著者でもある**メアリー・ウエマツ・カオ（Mary Uyematsu Kao）**氏を迎え、最新著書に関するディスカッションを開催します。本書は、ロサンゼルスにおける若者主導の多世代にわたる日系アメリカ人コミュニティ・アクティビズムの始まりを記録した一冊です。

ブックトークの後には、ショウシャナ・アライ（Shoshana Arai）氏、キース・コジモト（Keith Kojimoto）氏、そして元JTF日系コミュニティ・インターンのキアナ・ヒューム（Kiana Hume）氏によるコミュニティ・パネルディスカッションも行われます。
