You are warmly invited to bring your family to enjoy a JAJA NorCal MOCHITSUKI event to bring together the Japanese American and Japanese-speaking communities on SUNDAY, January 19, 2025, 11 am - 3 pm @ KOHO, Japan Center EAST Mall, 2nd Floor (above Daiso). JAJA stands for Japanese Americans and Japanese in America. The goal of the event is to create opportunities for the two communities to interact and reinforce friendships but all are welcome. Suggested donation $10 per adult, kids and seniors are FREE. RSVP here.

Message from our friends at the Japan Society of Northern California: Join us for an evening of live performance and a Q&A-style fireside chat with professional NIHONBUYO dancer Ume Nakamura as she showcases a craft honed by generations of esteemed performers before her. This event will be a valuable opportunity to learn about classical Japanese dance and theatre from a seasoned performer whose family has practiced and taught traditional performing arts for centuries, as well as to appreciate the art of the dance itself in all its traditional and modern iterations. $25.

The office of District Attorney Brooke Jenkins is currently accepting applications for the upcoming cohort of Sojourn to the Past, an impactful academic experience where youth participants retrace the steps of the Civil Rights Movement by visiting significant landmarks in Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee. This life-changing journey is designed to help young people gain a profound understanding of the Civil Rights Movement’s legacy, while also encouraging them to embrace core values such as acceptance, non-violence, courage, compassion, forgiveness, and civic responsibility. By participating, the youth are equipped to become change agents, addressing the prejudices that continue to impact our society today.Applications can be found on our website.

Eligibility: Youth participants ages 14-18 (18 if still in high school) and Peer Mentors ages 18-24 (out of high school) who are San Francisco residents or students. Must be able to participate in the Sojourn to the Past trip, scheduled for April 2nd – 9th, 2025. Participants must also engage in biweekly preparation meetings starting in February from 4:00-6:00 PM, in addition to monthly group outings. 地区検事ブルック・ジェンキンスのオフィスでは、「ソジャーン・トゥ・ザ・パスト（Sojourn to the Past）」プログラムへの参加申し込みを受け付けています。このプログラムは、若者がアラバマ州、アーカンソー州、ミシシッピ州、テネシー州の重要なランドマークを訪れ、公民権運動の歩みをたどるという意義深い学術体験です。この人生を変える旅は、公民権運動の遺産を深く理解するとともに、受容、非暴力、勇気、思いやり、許し、市民責任といった核心的な価値観を若者に受け入れさせることを目的としています。

このプログラムに参加することで、若者たちは変革の担い手となり、現在の社会に依然として影響を及ぼしている偏見に対処する力を身につけます。申し込みは、当オフィスのウェブサイトから行えます。

応募資格:

サンフランシスコ市内在住または市内の学校に通う以下の若者： • 14歳から18歳（18歳の場合は高校在籍中）

• ピアメンター：18歳から24歳（高校卒業後）
