Presented by East Wind Books of Berkeley, join photojournalist and author Mary Uyematsu Kao in a discussion of her latest book. The work chronicles the beginnings of youth-inspired, multi-generational Japanese American community activism in Los Angeles. The book talk will be followed by a community panel featuring Shoshana Arai, Keith Kojimoto, and Kiana Hume (a former Nikkei Community Intern for JTF!). Register here.

本書は、ロサンゼルスにおける若者主導・多世代にわたる日系アメリカ人コミュニティ・アクティビズムの草創期を記録した作品です。

This Saturday, The Center presents two sumi-e workshops taught by instructor Fumiyo Yoshikawa, focusing on the sumi-e plum and the sumi-e horse (for the Year of the Horse). Both classes will be held consecutively; you can buy tickets for one or enjoy a ‘double feature’ to learn this beautiful Japanese art.
