Save the date for Sunday June 22, 2025 for San Francisco’s Third Annual Juneteenth Parade on Market Street! June 19 of each year marks the freeing of enslaved people by President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. Althought the Proclamation freed enslaved people after the end of the Civil War, in 1863, this was not communicated to African Americans in Texas for over two years, until Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas on June 19, 1865.

Seeking parade contingents! The Third Annual Juneteenth Parade on Market Street will begin at 11 am on Market & Spear, proceeding west along Market to 8th Street. Vehicles and parade floats will disperse south via 8th Street. Those walking in the parade contingent will disperse onto westbound Grove and northbound Hyde streets. 2025年6月22日（日曜日）は、サンフランシスコで開催される第3回「ジュンティーンス・パレード」（マーケット・ストリート）の日です。ぜひスケジュールにご記入ください！毎年6月19日は、アメリカの第16代大統領エイブラハム・リンカーンによる「奴隷解放宣言」によって奴隷とされていた人々が解放されたことを記念する日です。この宣言は南北戦争終結後の1863年に発効しましたが、その知らせがテキサス州のアフリカ系アメリカ人に届いたのは2年以上後の1865年6月19日、連邦軍がテキサス州ガルベストンに到着した時でした。

Celebrate Japan Day with Us in SF Japantown!

Join Genryu Arts on Sunday, June 22 from 12–5pm at Post & Laguna for Japan Day 2025—a vibrant summer festival celebrating Japanese arts and culture!

Every year, the Berkeley Buddhist Temple and the Berkeley Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temple alternate the Obon Odori. This year's Obon Odori in Berkeley will be held at the Berkeley Buddhist Temple at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, July 12, at 2121 Channing Way.

Bon Odori is a style of dancing performed during Obon. With colorful lanterns lighting the area, we dance to traditional Japanese music to show appreciation for those who have passed before us.

毎年、バークレー仏教会とバークレー東本願寺仏教会は交互にお盆の踊りを開催しています。
今年のバークレーでの盆踊りは、7月12日（土）午後6時30分より、**バークレー仏教会（2121 Channing Way）**にて行われます。

盆踊りは、お盆の期間に行われる伝統的な踊りで、美しい提灯に照らされながら、ご先祖様や故人への感謝の気持ちを込めて踊ります。日本の音楽に合わせて、みんなで心をひとつにしましょう。

The Obon festival season is an important time in our community and we are excited to be able to come together again!

This year’s San Jose Obon Festival will be on July 12th, 12 – 10 pm and July 13th, 12 – 9 pm on 5th Street between Taylor and Jackson Streets in San Jose, CA with parking and a complimentary shuttle service from the Santa Clara County lot at North First and Hedding. (Google Map)

JCYC’s 15th Annual SF Aloha Run 5K, 10K, Keiki Mile, and Keiki Trot will take place on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at Crissy Field in San Francisco.

For the past 15 years, the San Francisco Aloha Run has brought together individuals of all ages and backgrounds to join an uplifting and healthy movement that supports the local community.

Proceeds from the run will provide scholarships for low-income, first-generation college students through the JCYC Scholarship Programs. By registering and fundraising, you're helping shape a brighter future for the children and youth in our community and beyond. Learn more about our impact.
