A message from our friends at the Japanese Community Youth Council: Come to a youth/young adult led Day of Remembrance event before the Bay Area DOR on Sunday, February 16, 10 am-12:45 pm. Through interactive activities and discussion, we will be reflecting on what it means for younger generations of Nikkei and the greater Asian American community to learn about the history and the importance of Day of Remembrance, and more generally, the power of remembering governmental injustices that are too often written out of dominant recounts of American history. Free.

ベイエリアの「追悼の日（Day of Remembrance）」に先立ち、2月16日（日）午前10時〜12時45分に、ユースが主導する追悼イベントを開催します。

このイベントでは、対話型のアクティビティやディスカッションを通じて、日系の若い世代や広くアジア系アメリカ人コミュニティが歴史を学ぶことの意義、そして「追悼の日」の重要性について考えます。また、アメリカの歴史の中で政府の不正行為がどのように忘れ去られたのか、その記憶を継承することの大切さについても議論します。

From our friends at the Bay Area Day of Remembrance Consortium: Join us on Sunday, February 16th, from 1 to 3 PM to commemorate the signing of Executive Order 9066 and unite our Bay Area community against mass detention and deportation. The event will feature keynote speaker Mike Ishii, Executive Director of Tsuru for Solidarity, and will honor Dr. Satsuki Ina as this year’s Clifford I. Uyeda Awardee. This in-person gathering will take place at the AMC Kabuki 8 Theatres, 1881 Post Street, San Francisco. It will be followed by a candlelight procession through the streets of Japantown to a reception at JCCCNC, 1840 Sutter Street, San Francisco. All are welcome! A $10 suggested donation is appreciated. Welcome to the 14th Annual Films of Remembrance

A message from the Nichi Bei Foundation: We welcome you to the 14th annual Films of Remembrance, the premier showcase of films commemorating the forced removal and incarceration of Japanese Americans in American concentration camps during World War II.

This year, in addition to returning to in-person screenings and discussions with filmmakers, we will once again make films available online for a global audience (with the exception of “Kintsukuroi”) from March 10 through March 24, 2025. We are also proud to provide free student access to the films again this year.

The 14th annual Films of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the AMC Kabuki 8 in San Francisco’s Japantown and Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025 at the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin in San Jose’s Japantown. In addition, we will be bringing Films of Remembrance to Los Angeles’ Little Tokyo on Saturday, March 8 and to Gardena, Calif. on March 9, 2025, thanks to special partnerships with the Japanese American National Museum and the Gardena Valley Japanese Cultural Institute.

Over four days, you can view both the films and participate in in-person post-film discussions. A record total of 19 films will be presented over the four events, including films exclusive to their locations. We thank our many sponsors, especially our presenting sponsors, for helping to make this happen.

For those who cannot make the in-person events, the films (with the exception of “Kintsukuroi”) will be accessible to stream online from March 10 through March 24, 2025. The virtual program, however, will not include panel discussions with filmmakers. We thank all of our filmmakers for helping to keep our history alive through their dedicated work, and for helping to educate the broader public about the deprivation of civil liberties during World War II and its lessons for today. 第14回「フィルムズ・オブ・リメンブランス」へようこそ。本イベントは、第二次世界大戦中に日系アメリカ人が強制的に移住させられ、収容所へ送られた歴史を記録し、伝えるための映画を上映する特別な催しです。

今年は、対面での上映と映画製作者とのディスカッションが復活するだけでなく、グローバルな観客向けにオンライン配信も実施します（ただし、「Kintsukuroi」を除く）。オンライン配信期間は2025年3月10日から3月24日までとなります。また、今年も学生の皆さんには無料で映画を視聴できる機会を提供いたします。

第14回「フィルムズ・オブ・リメンブランス」は、以下の日程・会場で開催されます：
2月22日（土）：サンフランシスコ日本町 AMC Kabuki 8
2月23日（日）：サンノゼ日本町 仏教会別院
3月8日（土）：ロサンゼルス・リトルトーキョー （日本アメリカ国立博物館との特別提携）

A message from Nihonmachi Little Friends: NLF's Dowa No Omatsuri: A Festival of Children's Stories will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at the Palace of Fine Arts.  Preschoolers will delight the audience with heartwarming renditions of beloved tales such as “Momotaro”, “We are One みんなでひとつ”, and “Shoujouji no Tanuki Bayashi.”  Meanwhile, the elementary school-age children of the After School Program (ASP) will captivate with their production of “This is Me,” featuring choreography by NAGATA Dance. Adding to the excitement, an online auction will open on February 16 at 9 am! The lobby doors open at 12 noon with a Hidden Treasures Pop-Up, light refreshments and an enticing raffle. The theater program begins at 1:30 pm. We hope that you will join us for an afternoon of fun!  The Auction and Tickets to the event can be accessed here.  Proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit the programs and operations of NLF.

NLFの「童話のお祭り：子どもたちの物語のフェスティバル」が、2025年2月23日（日）にパレス・オブ・ファインアーツで開催されます。

幼児クラスの子どもたちは、「桃太郎」や「We are One みんなでひとつ」、「証城寺の狸囃子」などの心温まる名作を演じます。 一方、アフタースクールプログラム（ASP）の小学生たちは、NAGATA Danceによる振付の「This is Me」を披露し、観客を魅了します。

さらに、2月16日午前9時からはオンラインオークションも開催されます！ 当日は、正午にロビーがオープンし、"Hidden Treasures"ポップアップショップ、軽食、そして魅力的なラッフルが楽しめます。 シアタープログラムは午後1時30分に開演します。
