Our favorite Japantown stationers Paper Tree is teaming up with the Japan Center Malls to bring you Origami Palooza, an origami folding extravaganza, attracting enthusiasts from the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond! THIS SUNDAY, 12N - 4:30 pm, at the Peace Plaza. FREE.

日本町の文房具屋であるPaper Treeは、Japan Center Mallsと協力してOrigami Palooza（サンフランシスコのベイエリアと、それを超えたエリアのファンを魅了している、折り紙イベント）を企画しています。今週の日曜日、12:00-4:30 pm、Peace Plazaにて。無料です。

Message from the Office of Economic & Workforce Development: “This past fiscal year, SF Shines had a big impact on our business owners. We funded 293 businesses and invested over $1.3 million in FY22-23. We are beginning the exciting process of designing the next iteration of our grant programs. In order to focus on that process, the final deadline for both the SF Shines Construction Grant and the SF Shines Design Services Grant at 11:59 pm on Friday September 29. Our goal is to relaunch SF Shines in January 2024!

Get free drawings and design services from a licensed architect or logo and signage design from a graphic designer. Apply here.
Get up to $5,000 in funding to complete construction projects and purchase new equipment. Apply here.
Small business owners can get reimbursed for accessibility inspections or for making your business more accessible. Apply here.

In partnership with the SF Survey Team at the SF Planning Department, the Japantown Task Force/Japantown Cultural District invites you to a small IN-PERSON gathering of people who are experts in Japantown history who can help identify historic and cultural commercial locations, review historic resource draft findings, and share with the SF Survey Team the hidden, lost, or forgotten stories of important Japantown businesses. Join Brenda Wong Aoki and First Voice in the world premiere of Soul of the City, an spectacular multimedia musical drama that combines traditional Japanese theater and music with contemporary spoken word and Asian American jazz.
