From Friends of the San Francisco Public Library: “Take a break from the holiday hustle and bustle and let the beautiful singing voices of the ladies of the San Francisco Forest Choir soothe you, 11:30 am-12:30 pm, Sat, 12/14 @ Western Addition Brach of the SF Public Library, 1550 Scott Street. The SF Forest Choir will be singing seasonal songs and wishes for peace from around the world in several languages. The San Francisco Forest Choir was founded in 2003 and is under the guidance of Artistic Director, Ruriko Miura. The Kimochi Silver Bells Arts & Crafts Faire is a free, one-day event featuring handcrafted items made by more than 90 talented Asian and Pacific Islander artisans. The event will take place 10 am-4 pm, Sat, 12/14, at the Event Center at St. Mary's Cathedral, located at 1111 Gough Street. The event also features live music, food trucks, and other family-friendly activities. The event is wheelchair accessible. 
• Admission and parking are free.
• A free Kimochi shuttle service will be provided to/from Japantown (pick-up/drop-off at Peace Plaza on Post St.).
• Not all vendors accept credit/debit cards, so it is a good idea to bring cash.

The Japantown UPS Store is also collecting gently used coats as part of the One Warm Coat clothing drive. Stop by and say hello to manager Robbie who conducts the coat drive annually. Please join us as we celebrate the Year of the Snake! We are looking for groups/organizations to provide children's activities or community information tables. If you are interested, please see the registration form here. The deadline for information table requests is December 31, 2024.

The festival is also holding a Children's Art Contest, with the theme of "Year of the Snake", for preschool and elementary school aged children. All entries should include the student's name, age and grade and what school they are from (on the back of the drawing). The deadline for children’s art submission is January 8, 2025. Details here.

Our goal is to create stewardship and build community! 🌼 and we need your help! We can make a positive impact by bringing the community together to plant more trees! 🌼 We would love to collaborate with you to:

1) Identify where trees are needed and wanted most  

2) Recruit neighbors to join us for fun and festive volunteer planting day!
